The 3 Keys of Conscious Leadership

By Whitney Sause

In this post, I share what it means to be a conscious leader and the three keys of a GREAT leader.

You can lead an entire country without these skills if you are granted power, but you will suffer consequences. These consequences will be internal as well as external for someone who is not on their “right path”

Conscious

To be conscious is to be aware of one’s self completely. Fully active mentally. Attentive, aware of thoughts, emotions, and the present moment.

Leadership

Someone who is self-disciplined. They inspire confidence in others and move them to action. Someone who will step up when a task needs to be accomplished. They are not afraid of doing things differently. They command authority or influence.

#1 Clarity

Being clear is kind! The more clear that we get with ourselves by being radically open, honest, and transparent, the more clearly others will understand us. So within, so without. If you are experiencing chaos and compartmentalization within the mind, it is likely that your outer world is reflecting that back to you, only making you feel more stressed and unorganized.

Getting clear with yourself can be a challenge if you have never done it. It all starts with one simple question;

WHAT DO YOU WANT?

Whatever your first answer is, you can assume that is the ego and release it. Now, take a deep breath x3. Give yourself some time to sit in silence without “doing” or “trying”. Just ALLOW.

After you feel that you are a little more grounded and tuned into your heart space, ask yourself: “What do I want?”

Save the drama for your mama. We don’t need any ego or judgment in this exercise. Just your soul wisdom. Take your time and get crystal clear on what YOU want. Not your mom, dad, husband, kids, etc. YOU. What is YOUR greatest desire? Have you ever said it out loud?

Having clarity with yourself will help you create purity in all of your relationships.

#2 Courage

A quote that changed my life forever:

“Without fear, there is no need for courage.”

This quote impacted me deeply because in that moment, I realized my humanness. The paradox of change is that we deeply desire the unknown, however, it is our greatest fear.

We wish to find great excitement in life, but when it feels like something else (fear, anxiety) we don’t want it! Ummm…. Seems problematic, huh?

We all have something that we are scared of. One person’s greatest fear might be to never be able to work again, while someone else’s fear might be dying. It takes courage for us to face our unique fears. We cannot be the judge of how much courage it will take for someone to do something because we don’t know how afraid of it they are. We are all wired much differently.

It takes courage to get out of your comfort zone. Maybe you are already completely confident in one area of your life, but you still need the courage to confidently respond in other areas.

Surgeons are a great example of someone who is admirably competent in one area, but might lack largely in other areas. Many great surgeons spend so much time doing what they love (learning how to be great surgeons) that their personal/social lives suffer. You could be the number one brain surgeon in the world and still have to muster up the courage to go on a date.

Courage comes from commitment. You have to know what you want (clarity) and then commit to it.

What is something that you know you need to do but haven’t had the courage to achieve? Is it in alignment with your souls purpose? What is holding you back?

#3 Compassion

This is the strong desire to alleviate suffering. Again, so within, so without.

You cannot have compassion for others if you are not having compassion for yourself. Want to save the world? SAVE YO-SELF.

I have met a LOT of people and I can confidently say that across the board; most humans lack self-compassion. We grew up with parents from the Great Depression and Baby Boomer era’s. Compassion wasn’t exactly the forefront focus during that time.

I have had so many clients share stories with me about being told that their feelings were not valid. In some cases my clients were told that their feelings/emotions/depression was not real. These individuals learned to contain any type of emotion and never say anything about it.

Decades of never expressing your true needs, desires, and emotions can wreak havoc on the body. We store trauma in each of our organs, not just the mind. If you have a physical ailment, there is some energy that is trapped within you that needs to be released.

Practicing self-compassion seems so simple and easy that you might think it is one of those steps you can just skip over. DO NOT > I REPEAT > DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP.

I have THREE key principles that I teach my leadership around. CLARITY, COURAGE, and COMPASSION. They are all equally as important.

Start treating yourself the way you wished your mother had when you were a child.

Beginning to work with the small child that is within you will start to make hugeeee shifts in your external world.

Within every one of us, there is a child that didn’t have his/her needs met in some way. Have compassion for not only your adult self, but also that small innocent child. When we heal ourselves, we have the magic to help others heal.

In my 1:1 coaching, we delve into what it looks like to embody massive shifts and step into alignment with your “fuck yes”.

Success Journey Transparency

Everyone has a Unique Story

I often hear people talk about being self-made and I call bullshit.

EVERYONE has had someone helping them at one point, EVERYONE has had challenges, and everyone has had to climb. You can not analyze your success or wins based on where someone else is because not only do they have a different script and story, but they also have their own narrative behind the scenes.

There are things that have happened in your life that gave you a clear advantage, as well as things that gave you a clear disadvantage.

It’s Your Journey

You are not on someone else’s journey. Imagine where you were 6 months ago, and how you dreamed of being where you are now. There is no sense in focusing on the things that were difficult or challenging unless you are taking the time to analyze how it made you better or how you might be able to improve.

It is easy to allow your attention to drift from the things you do well onto the things that you are not as good at.The universe gives you more of what you focus your attention on, so it won’t do you good to spend a bunch of time empathizing over things that didn’t go well.

Simply observe that your plan did not work the way that you originally planned and do not resist it. Sharing these experiences can help you to understand them and what they mean to you.

Are You Being Transparent?

When you are new at something, how much do you reveal about the journey?

Are you scared of sharing the things that did not go well, but never hesitate to share the things that are going incredible? What is the difference? What is holding you back from sharing the behind the scene “fails”? You don’t have to share everything with your followers or friends, but it is good to share the raw stuff. People notice this transparency and appreciate it.

Whether you are starting a new art project or creating a business, there will be trial and error. One thing you must learn to be a successful entrepreneur is that we all fail. Good entrepreneurs have just learned to love finding new ways to make things work.

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

–Thomas Edison

If You’re Afraid

I understand that you might fear to show the world what you got, or how you got it.

“What if they steal my idea!?”
What if they think I am incompetent
What if they think that I need more coaching myself?
Okay, first of all- no one can steal your idea.

No one is you, and no one can replicate your ideas. Trust when I say that there is an abundance of everything for everyone. As a coach, I know that the most important part of my life is going with the flow and being open to being coached myself.

There is always something to learn.

Adopt the mindset that everyone is your teacher and see how much you can learn. Other individuals on their journey will see your errors and transparency and they will become inspired and see the potential in themselves!

My Mission

My mission is to create a beautiful life for not only me but for the generations that follow me. In order to create a beautiful, happy, healthy life for myself- I challenge myself to improve the lives of everyone around me (to include you!). I intentionally share my good and bad days with the people that I aim to inspire.

I am here to inspire people to start taking steps towards becoming their ideal self. This is the most successful point that you can imagine yourself reaching. I aim to do this because I love being around people that are happy with all aspects of their life.

Positivity is infectious, and if you think you don’t need a coach then you might ask yourself why you are resisting the idea of someone assisting you in identifying areas of your life that could improve.

I want to help you find inner peace, improve your confidence levels, increase your business, and improve your relationships.

Finding and Maintaining Flow

Were you “in the flow” and now you are trying to find your way back? Or maybe you have never been in the flow and you’re ready to find out what that even means? Are you wondering if it is even possible for someone as angry as you to reach a state of complete bliss? The answer is yes. You can reach equanimity.

There are always going to be new situations arising in your life. You cannot control the happenings in the world around you. So, how do you stay in the flow with new things constantly arising?

Think back to the last time you felt like you were in “the flow”. If you don’t know what this feeling is, or have never experienced this feeling, keep reading. Maybe something in this blog will inspire you to have this experience. I would explain this as my feeling of One with the Universe. It’s the complete acceptance of everything that happens. Free of resistance, anger, fear, and confusion. Everything feels like it is aligned perfectly.

Do a life scan

If you can, find a quiet, calm place with a neutral temperature to do this. Sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and imagine what your life would be like if it were PERFECT. Have you ever imagined this?

What would you do with your time?
What career would you have?
Who would you be friends with?
How much money would you be making?
What kinds of things would you and your friends do?
What would your perfect Saturday evening look like?
As a result, you can begin to get a clear image of who it is that you are working towards becoming. Furthermore, you can start becoming that ideal image.

What should I keep in my life?

Think about what habits you want to posses when you are at your peak point of success?

Write a list of things/habits you currently have. Which of those habits would you like to keep?

Think about the people that have everything in life that you want. In contrast, what characteristics and qualities do they possess?

What habits should I get rid of?

We all have that one thing. Consequently, It’s like our spirit is screaming at us to stop doing it, but we can’t. Whatever unhealthy thing that you are passionate about- let it go.

You thought it for the reason that you know it is bad for you. Write it down. Set the intention to allow yourself to let go of the attachment, and then let it be.

Don’t repeatedly kick your own ass because you continue to indulge. Enjoy it if you are going to make the decision to do it. Above all, you show me that you are ready to let it go because you are reading this blog.

Make a list of the things that you do daily that you do not want to do any longer.

I know first hand how hard it is to quit things that you are addicted to (including drugs, alcohol, and anger). Just by writing these things down, you are planting a seed. You are setting the intention on who you are becoming. Therefore, you have taken control.

Trust the process

A rock in a riverbed is stuck in the same place, resisting the flow. The water is calm and persistent. It continues to flow around anything that is in its path. The rock is heavy and does not move with the current. As a result, the rock slowly begins to diminish. The body of water takes away from the rock.

If you are in the water (flow, universe, alignment) allow yourself to flow freely. If there is resistance, like the rock- you will begin to diminish. You must have trust in the universe and in yourself.

Don’t burn yourself out

Always remember that 6 months ago, you dreamed of being where you are now. Just keep pushing, keep grinding. You’ll get there. Don’t ever forget that the most important thing is the ride.

A great way to avoid getting burned out is to keep a journal where you list the things you are proud that you accomplished every day, and a list of at least three things that you are grateful for.

If you don’t think you have anything to be grateful for, try doing your morning routine with your eyes closed.

Take action

You don’t get to sit on your bum and watch the universe start working miracles for you. You know that you have to identify things you love about your life, get rid of the things you do not love, and remain grateful.

You have to stop complaining about the past and start taking steps towards a better you. The only person you need to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

As an ascension coach, I can help you identify where resistance is occurring in your life, how to get rid of it, and be in complete alignment with the universe. Time is the only limit.

Water the Seeds of Your Life

Do you have a small idea that sounds like something you would really enjoy doing?

Think for a moment. What is it that you want to do?

Is there someone or something in your life making you believe you should not reach this goal?

What is it? What is the fear that is holding you back from achieving your goal?

How do you feel when you imagine that you have obtained the goal?

Do you feel happy where you are in your life right now? Will you be happy if you never even try?

What if you started to water that seed in your life? What would happen if you gave it the nurturing that it needed to grow?

WHAT IF….

What if you started to succeed at it, and even knew how to manage the money and responsibilities as they come?

What would happen then?

Your fear of looking stupid is holding you back. The seeds in your life that seem very small- don’t have to be small.

Stop worrying about the “what if’s” and just start trying. Start the forward movement.

Do you want to know a secret? Every single entrepreneur is used to failure. Some of us even enjoy it. We know that when we are failing- We are growing. We know that even if the path doesn’t work out- we can take another path. We continuously water those good seeds.

I just saw a quote on Instagram that said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

You become what you spend your time on.

If you are constantly second-guessing what you are doing, and having negative thoughts about it, it will only make life harder for you. FOCUS on the things you did WELL rather than the things you did not do well. Those are just growing experiences (which I also consider a win)

What is your goal? What are you afraid of? What is holding you back? How are you going to overcome it?

Have a kick-ass Labor Day weekend, my friends. Stay safe.

Make your goals work for you!

Every week I make a list of THREE things that I want to accomplish. Within that week, I have many other lists that I make, but my main focus is those three things. It is important to set goals, however, it is more important to set goals that are achievable. No matter what craziness is going on in my life- I remain calm, and focused on my weekly goals. I have a planner that I use specifically for my daily goals, or “to-do list”. This is not my weekly goals. My planner is a way for me to keep track of smaller things that I want to accomplish while I am reaching for the ultimate goals. When I first started practicing this technique, I was writing down things that seemed very minuscule. For example, getting out of bed, and getting myself ready. We all know how hard that can be sometimes, especially when you are experiencing depression. Something about the physical action of having a list, something to cross off, it made me feel like I had a minimum expectation of myself. Even if I was getting up, and doing my hair and makeup, and then just sitting around the house- I was still starting to feel better about myself. I don’t have to write down “get up” on my goals anymore, because I did it for so long, it became a part of my life. Now I am writing down long term goals, and things I never dreamed of.

I encourage you to make three attainable goals for this coming up week, and NO MATTER WHAT- make sure they get accomplished. If your goal is to exercise, and you know that you struggle with this, make your goal very small. 5 minutes of exercise, three times a week is 15 minutes of exercise that you were not doing before. That’s better than nothing, right!?

I know that you have come this far, and you have everything it takes within you to make this leap towards success. Remember, as always- You are smart, you are lovable, and you can do anything that you want to. Make a wonderful rest of your week.
